Preschool Zone features rotating activities each week for The City Library's smallest patrons and their caregivers. These activities will help little ones develop different skills, prepare them for a lifetime of learning, and they'll have fun while doing it!
First Monday of Each Month · Dance Zone
Preschoolers and their caregivers can wiggle, shake, and dance with rhythms and songs. Music and movement are an important part of early learning and development.
Second Monday of Each Month · Building Zone
Preschoolers and their caregivers can build with blocks, bricks, magnetic shapes, and more. Building activities help children gain spatial awareness skills; develop eye hand coordination; and refine both small and large muscle movements.
Third Monday of Each Month · Animal Zone
Jump, leap, create, and play like an animal! Preschoolers will celebrate a different animal each time—participating in stories, songs, activities, rhymes, and making animal-related crafts. Creative play helps children develop their imagination.
Fourth Monday of Each Month · Science Zone
Get your child started on a lifetime of curiosity and discovery. Science Zone gives preschool-aged kids a hands-on introduction to scientific concepts with interactive activities and inquiry-based learning.
Fifth Monday of Each Month (if applicable) · Play Zone
Preschoolers can play with the library’s collection of toys and develop new friendships. Playing helps children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and mentally.
