At the ready to innovate, Library enhances experience for on-the-go patrons
July 12, 2012—Salt Lake City— Salt Lake City Public Library now offers apps for Apple and Android devices, putting the library at a patron’s fingertips, no matter where they may be.
After adopting a dynamic new catalog in April of this year, mobile apps were the next obvious step. “In today’s online environment, we recognize that we serve patrons who don’t come through our doors,” said Deborah Ehrman, associate director for The City Library. “Providing mobile access to our catalog and account information is part of our commitment to create the best possible experience for all library users.”
The app is easy to download from Apple App Store and Android Market, by searching Salt Lake City Public Library. Within minutes, patrons have easy access to their account information, can place holds, renew items, and check the availability of new titles. The apps also let you quickly search the library catalog, providing an easy to use interface that makes it fun to browse the library’s collection.
The library’s new online catalog, launched earlier this year, provides a wealth of information, the opportunity to rate titles, create lists, interact with other patrons, find information about the branches, and much more. Now all of that is available on your mobile device. For more information, or a quick link to the app download, visit www.slcpl.org.
