    Get to know new faces from your neighborhood and expose yourself to books you might not normally read at this monthly book club gathering. Gatherings taking place February and later will focus on a pre-selected title.

    Join Salt Lake Power Yoga on the scenic rooftop of the Main Library for free community yoga classes that are perfect for all ages and levels of expertise. Yoga classes will be offered two times each month May through August.

  • Sprague Branch Express Service Available Now

    The City Library’s Sprague Branch has reopened with limited service. The main level of the building is open with "express services," including holds pick-up, a small collection of materials, a handful of public access computers with shortened time limits, and free public WiFi Internet access.

    Bike the Branches

    Learn about safe urban bike riding from the Bicycle Collective and take part in a group ride that will depart from the Main Library and stop at the Glendale, Day-Riverside, and Marmalade Branches. The bike ride will be approximately 15 miles long, with stops for refreshments at each Library location. Bike riders of all ages are welcome. Be sure to wear a helmet! Space is limited and registration is required for this program.

    Celebrate the Chapman Branch’s 100th Birthday all day long, starting with an opening ceremony featuring the Utah National Guard's 23rd Army Band Brass Quintet, commemorative speeches, and the unveiling of a historical plaque. Throughout the day you can sign up for the Super Summer Challenge, snap a selfie with an antique car, enjoy cake and ice cream, get your own special balloon, or grab some coffee and lunch from Buzzed Coffee and Soul Food food trucks.

Art EXHIBITS

The Salt Lake City Library hosts art exibits throughout the year. We also lists citywide exhibits here and in our events calendar. If you are a local artist, click on "Call for Entries" to get involved.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

Exhibits are chosen by a staff committee according to the needs and interests of the community, the variety of shows, the artistic quality of the works, and the suitability of format for each library's physical space. Submissions are accepted twice annually: during the two-week periods prior to April 10 and October 10.



TEEN ART EXHIBIT CALL FOR ENTRIES

Teen artists and art instructors, submit your or your student's portfolio to be featured at The City Library! We are always on the lookout for original art exhibitions for the Main Library's Canteena Space on Level 2, and welcome submissions year-round.



PERFORMANCE ART FESTIVAL CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Each year, The City Library's Performance Art Festival invites the Salt Lake City community to experience world-class performance art, live and in person, featuring works from respected local and international artists. Curator Kristina Lenzi assembles a varied group of performances, suitable for all ages and interests. If you are interested in performing, please submit a proposal by May 31, 2018.
