    Rooftop Yoga

    Join Salt Lake Power Yoga on the scenic rooftop of the Main Library for free community yoga classes that are perfect for all ages and levels of expertise. Yoga classes will be offered two times each month May through August.

    Get to know new faces from your neighborhood and expose yourself to books you might not normally read at this monthly book club gathering. Gatherings taking place February and later will focus on a pre-selected title.

    Take in big screen showings of summer blockbusters at The City Library! Classic movies will be presented under the twinkling night sky on the east lawn of Library Square. Grab a blanket, bring some snacks, and enjoy a night of outdoor movie magic.

    Build a better world with The City Library's Super Summer Challenge! Beginning June 1, visit any City Library location to sign up, receive a Super Summer Challenge tracker, and start working toward entry into prize drawings. Fun, free events will also be offered at the Library all summer long.

  • Eid al-Fitr Celebration Sat, Jul 8, 12–5:30pm · Marmalade Branch

    Mark the end of Ramadan at The City Library. Join us for remarks from keynote speaker Professor Nebil Husayn, followed by a lively and interactive discussion. Festivities will also include crafts, storytime, a fashion show, traditional finger foods, and Ramadan trivia by Faeiza's Initiative.

    Friends of The City Library are invited to shop the Members-Only Used Book Sale from 9am–Noon. The sale will be open to the public from Noon–6pm.

  • Alt Press Fest 2017 Sat, July 8, 12–4pm

    The City Library’s ninth annual Alt Press Fest will celebrate zines, all forms of alternative press, and the awesome people who create it in Salt Lake City. Visit with local artists and see their wares, watch prints be made with a steam roller, create sumi ink illustrations, and take part in gelatin printing and zine-making workshops.

Art EXHIBITS

The Salt Lake City Library hosts art exibits throughout the year. We also lists citywide exhibits here and in our events calendar. If you are a local artist, click on "Call for Entries" to get involved.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

Exhibits are chosen by a staff committee according to the needs and interests of the community, the variety of shows, the artistic quality of the works, and the suitability of format for each library's physical space. Submissions are accepted twice annually: during the two-week periods prior to April 10 and October 10.



TEEN ART EXHIBIT CALL FOR ENTRIES

Teen artists and art instructors, submit your or your student's portfolio to be featured at The City Library! We are always on the lookout for original art exhibitions for the Main Library's Canteena Space on Level 2, and welcome submissions year-round.
